Save Estimate Details When Converting Prospects

We recently introduced a new estimate feature for customers which allows you to create and print estimates for customers. So when we did this, it made it possible to now offer you the ability to retain estimate details when you convert that prospect to an estimate in the “make ’em a customer” section:

Make 'em a customer

An important point to make on this though is that if the prospect has an estimate and you turn that estimate into a job and convert the prospect to a customer, then that estimate won’t be saved. Let’s look at a couple of examples:

1) You have a prospect who you provided a gutter cleaning estimate to. The prospect says “yes, come clean my gutters”. So you go to the “make ’em a customer” section in the prospect’s profile screen and schedule the gutter cleaning job and turn that prospect into a customer by clicking the “make ’em a customer” button.

In this example, the gutter cleaning estimate details will not be saved because it was turned into an actual job. There’s no reason to keep the gutter cleaning estimate details if it’s now a job.

2) For this next example, let’s say you presented an estimate to a prospect for 3 jobs: window cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, and gutter cleaning. The prospect decides to only get the window cleaning done. She may or may not want the other services performed later.

So from within the “make ’em a customer” section, you go ahead and schedule the window cleaning job and click the “make ’em a customer” button. The software will understand that the dryer vent cleaning job and the gutter cleaning job were not scheduled as actual “jobs”, so therefore these two jobs will display in your new customer’s “Estimate Information” section where you can reference the information later if needed. Here’s an image showing you where they will be in your new customer’s profile screen:

The window cleaning job, since that was the only actual job scheduled for the customer, will show in the “Current jobs” section just like scheduled jobs always have:
